Steve Katsipodas
Raised and educated in Greece and Canada, Steve is fluent in
Greek and English, and values the cultures of both countries.
After working in Canada's oil industry for many years, Steve sought
a more rewarding career for himself in education. In addition to
teaching Business, Math, and Computer Science, Steve has developed
and taught Greek Heritage Language programmes, most notably in
Calgary, Sarnia, and London, Ontario.
Outside the classroom Steve is active in many youth programmes. He
has directed numerous Greek language plays, coached soccer teams,
and conducted student trips to Italy, Greece, and the USA.
Steve is an avid sailor who has logged thousands of miles in
Mediterranean and Canadian waters in the company of other sailors
the last 20 years. He is a cook, a skier and a saxophone
student. He loves to host sailing odysseys and to introduce travel
enthusiasts to the routes of ancient Greece.
He co-founded The Canadian Lyceum of Greece
Inc. which brought Canadian high school students to Greece for a fabulous cultural learning exchange during the summers
of 2002-2008.
Through his love of travel he recognizes the importance of
international education for both teachers and students. He believes
that caring teachers who love to teach, and who exhibit integrity,
compassion, and diversity, are inspirational in the physical,
mental, and spiritual development of their students.
Steve presently lives in both Canada and Greece and is the proud
father of his first son, Dimitri, born
in Greece in November 2006.
